Book 4 in the Origins series
“Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.”
These words were spoken by the Manhattan Project’s scientific director after the first atomic detonation, but in truth they applied to any number of men during the rise and fall of the Third Reich. The question is, do they also describe the actions of Hastelloy and his crew in the past or present?
NSA agent Mark Holmes must determine the answer amid the Alpha’s rampaging Terracotta Army in China, a rogue NSA Executive Committee member about to provoke World War III in Egypt, and First Contact from outer space. The only one who can help him is a man he cannot trust.
How can he trust a being who engineered the First World War? How can he trust someone who facilitated the rise of Joseph Stalin or Adolf Hitler? Can he trust that it was all done in order to defeat an even greater threat? Hastelloy will do his best to plead his case, but will it be enough?
Old enemies become friends while old allies turn enemy in this gripping thriller that challenges everything you thought you knew about the formative years of the twentieth century. Once again, the Origins of all will be revealed.
Origins The Reich eBook Mark Henrikson
I read a considerable amount of books in my youth pertaining to the Nazis and the Holocaust. It profoundly disturbed me that humans could be as cruel as the Nazis were with mass exterminations.I read on Goodreads that Mark hadn't particularly cared for his journey into this dark part of history either. I wasn't quite sure how the book would deal with this gruesome period of history. To me, he dealt with all aspects with a degree of finesse and didn't leave me with any nightmares.
Without giving any spoilers, there is a section in the book where I shouted 'FINALLY!' and if you have read the preceding books, you will know what I am writing about.
Though this is alternative history, we must remember lest we forget. Never again.

Origins The Reich eBook Mark Henrikson Reviews
I was ambivalent about this book when I down loaded it from Book Bub, especially since it was by a new author. You know the feeling, I just wanted something inexpensive to read between reading my favorite authors. Several times I was tempted to put it aside but always decided to try a few more pages. I am so happy that I did. Mark Henrikson has clearly researched ancient and modern day history throughly, I have learned more history from his writing than I did from any college course I took or history book I have read. You can fact check the Internet about his stories (because I did) and he is always right on the money. The story line is intriguing, and many a night I would think that I would just read a few more pages and wound up reading much later than my comfort zone.
Although it is a syfy book I will highly recommend this book to any fan of adventure stories. It is insightful, informative and a swashbuckling, tension generating book. I I have read all four books and excited about the forth coming fifth book.
This series continues to astound me as Henrikson extends his tale of how he and his alien crewmen assume all these key identities in shaping mankind's historical development. World War II is just as absorbing as was the Reformation, the Roman Empire, the creation of the Hebrew/Christian religion in the first novel of the series. The interplay of current events as the historical tale is being told is brilliant. I can't wait for the next volume in the series to see where things go from here.
Truly, one of the best literary discoveries that I have made this year!
This installment, has been my least favorite with a four star review. But, I have to admit, I am not very excitable with Nazi history. There was of course, far much more in this book then Nazi history. It falls in line with the rest of the books, and is an awesome read. My four-star evaluation, as opposed to five star on each other, is because this book is a little slipshod with its time line being clear. I must say, As much as I am excited to read the fifth and final installation of the series, I am also saddened. I'm trying to remember if there is any other series that I have read from book one to book ends. But I cannot think of any other. This was very enjoyable!
Ok now that I have finished book four I only have to wait about 4 more weeks for the final book of the series. I am so gratefully I stumbled across the first book "Origins" on . This is one of the best book series I have read. It is amazing how the author blends the characters with real people from Earth's history in such an intriguing and realistic way. I again found myself sneak reading the book at work during lunch, in the morning with coffee, and at night before bed. It doesn't take long to finish a book at that rate. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys adventure and a little bit of imagination. You won't be disappointed
This is the 4th book of a series I discovered a few months ago. Mr. Henrikson takes our history and turns it on it's ear. The result is sometimes serious, sometimes hilarious, occasionally sad, but never dull.
This book in the series deals with one of the worst things that has ever happened to our world, the second world war. It was done with great sensitivity. There was enough blame to go around. No one country was blameless, and he helps you see that by using the five crew members that crash landed here in the time of Moses. Each member is given an assignment, and through the other books in this series shows all the cracks and crevices of individual choices and what the cost is.
I rarely give a five star rating, but this author, who is rapidly becoming one of my favorites, deserves them. The only complaint I have is the next one is the last. I see good things coming from Mark Henrikson.
This series is phenomenal. I got the first book of the series for free from bookbub and wow. Just wow. It's masterfully crafted for the entire series, building upon each other, concepts established well, characters flawlessly developed and consistent throughout the series. The ideas and premise are plausible. Seriously. Even though they're outlandish, concurrently they're plausible and really make you think. This one of the series, in particular, exposes human nature and how something so horrible can actually happen. The book hooked me well, wound up nicely (so I could have quit there) but I craved more so bought the next... and the next... and the next... I am so impressed with this series, the history brought to life, the explanations offered for the unexplainable. Kudos, Mark Henrikson. My hat is off to you.
The idea that most of the major players in human history were actually one of 4 aliens makes for interesting reading. The books are overlong but the stories(at least for those that were not just history lessons) were exciting and suspenseful. The revised histories themselves made me go back and look at the real history. The Russian campaign had lots of details I had not previously read and seems to have been fairly accurately presented. However some obvious liberties with history (J.Edgar Hoover didn't die as he did in the book) were a bit off putting but over all this was a great page turner and very engrossing. At least neither Jesus nor Hitler were aliens. I am looking forward to the final book to see how this all plays out.
I read a considerable amount of books in my youth pertaining to the Nazis and the Holocaust. It profoundly disturbed me that humans could be as cruel as the Nazis were with mass exterminations.
I read on Goodreads that Mark hadn't particularly cared for his journey into this dark part of history either. I wasn't quite sure how the book would deal with this gruesome period of history. To me, he dealt with all aspects with a degree of finesse and didn't leave me with any nightmares.
